Care’s Recommended Bedtime Books for Kids

I wasn't a big reader growing up. Unlike my older brother who would consume tomes and trilogies on a single family road trip, I was what you'd call a "reluctant reader".

In middle school, it was really only detective mysteries that held my attention. And in high school, Coles Notes were my friend (sshhh don't tell my teachers!)

The main reason I decided to feature books for kids, youth and young adults on my Wednesday Bookmark was to help the next generation of kids like me find books they WANT to read and books that can help them know who God is and how they fit in His big, beautiful story.

Now that I'm a mom with young kids, finding books that point them to Jesus is an even bigger priority. I'm invested in finding entertainment to help them grow a life rooted in faith and remind them how loved they are, especially at the end of a long day.

I have featured hundreds of books that any child would want to read curled up with mom or dad or grandma at bedtime. I know how it feels to want to speed through the bedtime routine after a day full of pressure when there’s a sink full of dishes and a basket of laundry to fold, but don’t rush this precious time. Slow down, snuggle together, and be comforted by a good book and each other.
